Our Building Inspector Selection Process

We are very choosy about who we hire. ABIS’ selection process is rigorous. We reject scores of applicants, including architects and engineers if they don’t meet our exacting requirements. We are prepared to keep searching. Successful applicants are then put through ABIS’ intensive Pest and Building Inspection training programme in addition to the mandatory Completed Residential Building Inspection qualification they are expected to hold. The whole process can take up to six months.

Not only are they knowledgeable about building, they are attentive to details so they conduct a quality and comprehensive inspection every time. They are also happy to answer all your questions. We endeavour to ensure that each inspector is qualified and licensed in both Completed Residential Building and Timber Pest Inspections in their own right.

technology-we-use

Technology We Use

ABIS Qualified Building Inspectors will arrive at your property armed with the latest technology to enable more efficient and faster detection of building defects and termites.

Moisture Meters

We deliver quickly and reliably so you can depend on us.

When applied to a surface, these may detect high moisture levels behind plaster sheeting and timber walls, indicating the presence of conditions that attract termites even when there are no outward signs of damage.

A moisture meter will also detect fungal decay due to leaking pipes or rising damp.

All high moisture readings should be investigated to determine the cause.

infrared-thermal-imaging-camera

Infrared Thermal Imaging Camera

Within their nest, workings and leads, termites create a climate which is discernibly hotter than its surroundings. Infrared Thermal Imaging passively reads the surface temperature differential of the surface it is pointed at so those termite problems may be detected without disturbing walls and even before termites create significant damage.

When used by properly trained Building Inspectors, large areas can be scanned quickly to identify and target hot spots accurately. Apart from sourcing termite activity, Thermal Imaging may also be used to identify moisture and ventilation problems.
