North Ipswich (4305)
Located 39 km to Brisbane’s west and home to 4590 people in 2011, Queensland Rail originated from North Ipswich (4305) from a site that has been recently developed into a major shopping precinct and Railway Workshop Museum. Not surprisingly then the suburb is dominated by ex-railway workers cottages and other heritage listed character homes. There are also several schools and a monument to remember Const. Sangster who drowned in the Brisbane River attempting to save a drowning family in the 1893 floods.
