About 25 km to Brisbane’s north, Murrumba Downs (4503) was originally land farmed by Thomas Petrie and his descendants. Now the land has been subdivided and is home to various residential estates, with a community convenience centre, and about 3 schools. In 2011, 9400 people lived in Murrumba Downs, their average age being 35 years. About 87% were Anglo-Australian with a minority from South Africa. English was the sole language spoken at home.
