Rotating Walls

Retaining walls must resist lateral pressures which are typically smallest at the top of the wall and increase toward the bottom. These are generated by loose soils attempting to move forward and downslope due to gravity or, in some cases, water pressure that is not dissipated by a drainage system. Earth pressures will push the wall to lean/ rotate forward or overturn it if not properly addressed.
