Fairfield (4103)
Located 5 km to Brisbane’s south and bounded by a cemetery to the north, a railway line to the east, a major road to the south, and the Brisbane River to the west, Fairfield’s (4103) position has made it very vulnerable to flooding as has occurred in 1974 and 2011. Fairfield is primarily residential with house and medium density unit accommodation. It is well serviced by regular trains and buses to Brisbane and surrounding suburbs and has a shopping centre with major retailers, a medical centre and library.
In 2011, 2500 people lived in Fairfield, their average age being 31 years. Most residents were Anglo-Australian with a minority from Vietnam, China or Malaysia. Although English was primarily spoken at home, Mandarin, Greek, Spanish, and Vietnamese were also spoken as second languages.
