Cornubia (4130)
Located 30 km to Brisbane’s south, Cornubia (4130) includes a large area which was declared a protected nature reserve in 1999. This area is home to koalas as well as a multitude of other native animals including wallabies, goannas and numerous bird species. The reserve is also designed to protect native Australian flora, particularly a number of endangered Eucalyptus species. However there are also recreational facilities for picnics, bushwalking and mountain biking. Despite its significant bushland, Cornubia also has access to one of Queensland’s largest shopping centres, the Hyperdome, two major schools, and regular bus services to Logan City, Beenleigh, and surrounding suburbs.
Cornubia is a rapidly growing suburb, with 3300 inhabitants in 2011. Most were Anglo-Australian with a minority from South Africa. Almost all spoke only English at home.
